Lyft will offer North Texas voters a 50% discount on eligible transportation to polling locations Nov. 3, with the savings limited to $10. The promotion covers Lyft rides, bike trips and scooter trips throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Dallas is about 33 miles southwest of Princeton.
The code VOTE26 will work from 5 a.m. through 10 p.m. on Nov. 3 for trips to polling locations. Dallas County polling sites are scheduled to be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., according to the county website.
The offer is part of Lyft Up Voting Access, a nonpartisan company program. Lyft representative Sabiha Nur said Lyft has provided free or discounted transportation during presidential, midterm and some runoff elections. Nur said nearly 4 million people have used Lyft to get to polling sites, submit ballots or participate in voter-registration and related events.
This election cycle, Lyft is partnering with the League of Women Voters, National Coalition for Homeless Veterans and Students Learn Students Vote Coalition. The company said those efforts support older voters, people with disabilities, students, veterans and lower-income communities that could face transportation barriers.
