As the Dallas Cowboys near the end of their training camp in Oxnard, adjustments to the offensive line depth are underway. The team's offense, featuring quarterback Dak Prescott and standout wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, is expected to perform well this season.

A significant concern has arisen regarding the backup center position. Veteran Matt Hennessy, initially designated as the replacement for starter Cooper Beebe, has been placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a neck injury. This has prompted the Cowboys to evaluate T.J.

Bass as the primary backup center, despite his limited experience in that role. Bass, who has played guard and started in 10 games over the last three seasons, was offered a second-round tender this offseason, securing a salary of $5.76 million.

In the Cowboys' first preseason game, Bass started at center for two series before being substituted by Nick Leverett. Leverett, who has experience at guard and one career start at center, has been working extensively in practice as the backup center. The Cowboys are considering Leverett's performance as they finalize their plans for the backup center role, which is crucial given Beebe's injury history.

Currently, Bass remains the leading candidate, but Leverett's contributions could impact the final decision as the team seeks to solidify its offensive line depth.
