Avelo Airlines has announced the launch of commercial air service at McKinney National Airport, establishing itself as the first and only hometown airline for Collin County. The carrier will operate nonstop flights to five destinations beginning on November 11, 2026. The new routes include Las Vegas, Nevada, and four cities in Florida: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Tampa.
The service will utilize 184-seat Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft based at the airport, which is located in McKinney, Texas. McKinney is about 7 miles west of Princeton. The airline projects that the new base will generate more than 100 local jobs. Introductory one-way fares start at $99, and bookings made through July will include the first checked bag at no additional cost. Reservations are available through the airline’s website.
Flight schedules vary by destination. Service to Fort Myers begins on November 11 with twice-weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Flights to Las Vegas and Orlando start on November 12, operating four and five times per week, respectively. Service to Fort Lauderdale begins on November 19 with five weekly flights. Flights to Tampa are also scheduled, though specific start dates and frequencies for that route were not fully detailed in the provided text.
Andrew Levy, founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, stated that the company was designed for this expansion. He highlighted the airline’s low fares, the convenience of using the local airport, and its on-time performance as key benefits for travelers. Levy noted that as a Texas-born company, Avelo is eager to grow its presence in one of the fastest-growing areas in the United States.
City of McKinney Mayor Bill Cox welcomed the announcement, noting that the new service reflects the demand for convenient air travel closer to home. He said the development reinforces McKinney’s role in the region’s future and attracts investment. Cox thanked the airline for its confidence in the regional market.
