Denison, Texas — A year after devastating floods impacted the Texas Hill Country, the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country has reported distributing approximately $82 million in recovery assistance to survivors in the area. The nonprofit, based in Kerrville, initiated its relief fund on July 4, 2025, coinciding with the flooding that claimed over 130 lives.
With donations exceeding $150 million, this effort ranks among the largest privately led disaster recovery initiatives in Texas history. Foundation CEO Austin Dickson, who experienced personal loss due to the flooding, reflected on the anniversary as a mix of sorrow and hope.
The foundation prioritized immediate needs by allocating $15 million to over 50 local nonprofits within 45 days of the disaster, focusing on emergency aid, housing repairs, and mental health services.
