Visitors heading to the State Fair of Texas this week do not have to replace an ordinary bag with a clear one. The fair's current policy recommends clear bags but does not require them for admission to the grounds.
The distinction is useful during opening week, particularly for families carrying children's supplies. All permitted bags remain subject to inspection. Coolers have a more specific limit. Permitted soft-shell coolers must measure no more than 9 by 10 by 12 inches. Hard-shell coolers are prohibited unless medically necessary. Ice must be in reusable packs or clear bags; loose ice is not permitted. Cooler dimensions and exceptions
There is no locker or bag-check service. Someone arriving with a prohibited item must return it to a vehicle or dispose of it; staff cannot hold it. That can be especially consequential for a visitor who has arrived by train or been dropped off. Storage policy
