Dalton Schultz could become a more prominent option for Houston if wide receiver Nico Collins cannot play against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. Collins injured his hamstring during Houston's Wednesday practice, according to an SI.com report citing ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Texans do not consider the injury serious, but his status for the matchup is still unsettled.
Houston may be careful with Collins because he previously sustained a Grade 2 hamstring strain in 2024 that resulted in his placement on injured reserve. His absence would alter the Texans' receiving choices and could lead to more opportunities for Schultz.
Schultz led Houston in receptions in 2025, with 82 catches totaling 777 yards. His usage also increased last season when Collins exited Houston's Week 7 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. Schultz received 10 targets in that game and recorded nine receptions for 98 yards. SI.com's report did not include a conclusive update on whether Collins will be available against Cincinnati.
