Trent Brown’s 2026 contract with Houston now offers up to $2.5 million in playtime bonuses, up from $1.5 million. Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti reported the revised terms Sept. 16 in a post on X.
The package pays $500,000 when Brown reaches each of five playing-time marks: 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70%. Over The Cap’s Troy Chapman previously reported that the additions did not change Brown’s salary-cap charge or his initial cash flow. The new incentives were added to the original package.
Houston brought Brown back during the 2026 offseason on a one-year, $5.5 million contract. He started eight games for the Texans in 2025, including seven regular-season contests and one playoff game. Injuries affected the beginning and conclusion of that season.
The team later gave Braden Smith a two-year contract worth $20 million, but Smith went on injured reserve following injuries and did not become the starter.
Brown stayed with Houston through the offseason program and opened Week 1 at right tackle. His most recent season starting every regular-season game was 2022 with the New England Patriots. Brown won a Super Bowl with New England in 2018, when Texans general manager Nick Caserio was an executive there.
