Princeton approves 2026–27 budget and property tax rate

Princeton City Council approved the city’s 2026–27 budget and a property tax rate of $0.472959 per $100 of assessed value at its Sept. 28 meeting, according to the city’s meeting recap.

The budget takes effect Oct. 1. Council amended its provisions for transfers between departments and separately ratified the increase in property tax revenue reflected in the spending plan.

Council also approved water, sewer and solid-waste fee schedules for the coming fiscal year. Changes to parks and recreation fees removed a proposed parking charge.

A separate ordinance establishing fees and eligibility rules for nonresident library cards takes effect Oct. 1. The recap does not list the individual utility or library charges.
