Economic development organizations in Allen and McKinney have introduced a collaborative branding effort to promote the SH 121 corridor as a unified destination for business and residential growth. The initiative aims to present the area along State Highway 121 as a single, cohesive market for potential investors and residents.

The partnership highlights more than 20 projects currently under development or in planning stages along the highway. These developments include mixed-use complexes such as The Farm and the Sunset Amphitheater. Officials describe the corridor as a zone where two of Collin County’s most active cities share a commitment to coordinated planning and intentional growth.

Dan Bowman, president and CEO of the Allen Economic Development Corporation, stated that the primary objective is to serve as a recruitment tool for businesses. He explained that the branding is designed to show companies looking at the North Texas region that the corridor offers a collective option for expansion or relocation, regardless of whether a site is on the Allen or McKinney side.

Michael Kowski, president and CEO of the McKinney Economic Development Corporation, noted that the effort signals to developers that there is a deliberate plan for the area. He described the stretch of road as one of the few corridors in the country experiencing such high levels of activity. Kowski also mentioned that the McKinney Economic Development Corporation owns several properties along the route, including 46 acres near Lake Forest Drive and SH 121. Officials are currently in negotiations with a development group regarding that specific parcel.

The corporation also holds land adjacent to Hub 121, the future Cannon Beach surf resort, and the McKinney National Airport. Kowski said that owning these parcels allows city officials to be more intentional about how the land is developed.

Local developer Bucky Gillett, who works in both the Allen and McKinney areas, said the joint effort will help attract businesses to the region. He described any initiative that drives business in this manner as a positive development.

Key projects along the Allen side of the corridor include the 121 Tech Park, developed by Stillwater Capital, which is slated for completion in early 2028. North American Properties is working on Allen Gateway, which includes office space, retail, and residential units, with groundbreaking for a restaurant planned for 2026. Other developments include The Avenue by Thakkar Developers, Crestview by Trammell Crow Company, The Farm by JaRyCo Development, and a $950 million resort by Kalahari Resorts and Conventions.

McKinney is about 7 miles west of Princeton.
