Kroger is advancing plans for a new supermarket in Princeton, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15. The event will feature remarks from Princeton Mayor Eugene Escobar Jr. and Rudy DiPietro, president of the Dallas Division at Kroger.
The new location will be part of the Princeton Town Center development, a 66-acre retail complex situated on the northwest corner of Beauchamp Boulevard and U.S. Highway 380. A company spokesperson confirmed to CultureMap that the store is expected to open in late 2027.
This project marks the third new Kroger Marketplace location to break ground this year, following similar announcements for sites in McKinney and Fate. The Princeton site was previously undisclosed. The company also has additional Marketplace stores under construction in Anna and the Sendera Ranch community of North Fort Worth, with a fourth location in Little Elm scheduled to open on July 31, 2026.
Kroger Marketplace-format stores are multi-department locations that typically range from 99,000 to 130,000 square feet. These facilities offer full-service grocery and pharmacy departments alongside expanded general merchandise, including outdoor living products, electronics, home goods, and toys.
DiPietro stated in December that the company is expanding to accommodate population growth in North Texas. He noted that the new stores aim to provide full shelves and fresh products while maintaining friendly service as new communities emerge.
