A data center project located just east of Princeton has secured permission to extract water from a local well. The North Texas Groundwater Conservation District granted a permit to BT Aycock Data Center LLC, allowing the facility to draw 150 gallons of water per minute from a source on the property.
The district’s directors voted unanimously to approve the well permit on June 9. The application specified that the well would be situated at 680 CR 561, with precise coordinates included in the filing. According to the Collin Central Appraisal District, the site consists of two tracts totaling nearly 50 acres, identified by Property IDs 1190847 and 1905255.
The permit outlines specific water usage requirements for the project. The application requested 5.56 million gallons of water for construction activities through 2028. Following that period, the facility plans to use 1.65 million gallons annually for commercial and small business operations.
The water source is the Woodbine Aquifer, which underlies 17 counties in North Texas. This aquifer currently supplies water for municipal, industrial, domestic, livestock, and small irrigation needs. The North Texas Municipal Water District clarified that this aquifer does not serve as a water source for Lake Lavon.
