Farmersville Independent School District has released guidelines for families regarding Pre-Kindergarten eligibility and the enrollment process for students transferring into the district. The information is intended to assist families preparing for the upcoming academic year.
To qualify for free Pre-Kindergarten, a child must be four years old on or before September 1 and reside within the district boundaries. Additionally, the student must meet at least one of several specific criteria. These include being unable to speak or understand English, or living in a household where Spanish is the primary language. Other qualifying factors involve economic disadvantage, being the child of an active-duty U.S. military member, or being the child of a service member who was injured or killed while on active duty. Students who are currently or were previously in foster care also qualify. Furthermore, children of police officers, firefighters, or emergency medical responders who were seriously injured or killed in the line of duty and received the Star of Texas Award are eligible.
The district emphasized that all Pre-Kindergarten students must be potty trained prior to the first day of school. For further details on eligibility requirements, families are directed to the Texas Education Agency early childhood education website.
Farmersville ISD also addressed the process for families seeking to transfer into the district. The district noted that new student registration is moving to a new software platform. Registration for new students is scheduled to open in July 2026. At that time, families will receive an email containing instructions on how to complete the registration process.
Campus contact information is available for families with additional questions. Farmersville is about 8 miles east of Princeton.
