Farmersville Independent School District trustees approved the fiscal year 2026-27 budget on Monday, just before the new fiscal year began on Wednesday. The district, located approximately 8 miles east of Princeton, outlined its financial plan for the upcoming year.

The approved budget projects total revenue of $34,263,520 against expenses of $34,552,519. This discrepancy results in a projected deficit of $288,999. Superintendent Micheal French attributed the shortfall to capital expenses carried over from the previous budget cycle.

During the meeting, Finance Director Anna Baker presented the trustees with a projected tax rate of $1.2303 per $100 of taxable valuation. The breakdown of that rate includes 73.08 cents per $100 allocated for maintenance and operations, with the remaining 49.995 cents designated for debt service.

In addition to the financial approval, the district provided guidance for families regarding the upcoming school year. FISD outlined the eligibility requirements for free Pre-Kindergarten programs and established a process for transfer student enrollment. The district noted that a child qualifies for free Pre-K if they turn 4 years old by a specific date, though the exact cutoff date was not detailed in the available report.

The Farmersville Times reported on the board's actions and the district's enrollment updates.
