Princeton ISD counted 11,958 students on the first day of classes, an increase of 1,413 students over the first day of 2025, the district said in a news post on enrollment growth.
More than 1,400 new students have enrolled since the first day of school last year, Princeton ISD reported. Elementary enrollment rose from 5,373 on the first day in 2025 to 6,128 this year, up 755 students.
"Fortunately, we just opened the district's fourth middle school and ninth elementary school, which provide some relief," Superintendent Donald McIntyre said in the district release. "But, with the growth rate we are experiencing, we will continue to feel that same pressure. So, it is good we have three additional construction projects underway."

Princeton Senior High School grew from 1,310 students on the first day in 2025 to 1,422 this year. The Lovelady campus for ninth- and 10th-graders enrolled 1,758 on the first morning, up 296 from 1,462 a year earlier. Combined, the two high school campuses totaled 3,180 students versus 2,772 last year, according to Princeton ISD.
Middle schools reported 2,650 students on the first day, up 267 from 2,383 in 2025.
Third grade was the largest class on day one with 980 students. First and second grades each reported 971. Seven grade levels topped 900 students, McIntyre said, and the district believes multiple grades could hit 1,000 this year. Twelfth grade was the smallest at 669, with 753 juniors.
