Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes, including the 249th of his career, as Dallas defeated Washington 37-20 at AT&T Stadium. The score surpassed Tony Romo’s franchise mark of 248 and moved the Cowboys to 1-1. Prescott finished with 279 yards on 26 completions and no interceptions. CeeDee Lamb had eight catches for 153 yards and two touchdowns, while Jake Ferguson caught the other two scoring passes.
Dallas led 20-13 early in the third quarter when rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham stripped the ball from Washington on a screen play. Dee Winters recovered inside the Washington 20, and Ferguson scored two plays later on a 12-yard reception. Washington finished with 389 yards, including 182 on the ground, and held the ball for 31:29. The Commanders committed one turnover, while Dallas committed none. Winters and Caleb Downs each made nine tackles, and Barham had seven.
Brandon Aubrey connected on field goals of 25, 44 and 60 yards. Dallas played without safety P.J. Locke after he injured a foot on Washington’s first series, and cornerback Cobie Durant left with a hamstring injury. Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow on the final play before halftime. Coach Dan Quinn said imaging showed no fracture, and Marcus Mariota played the rest of the game. Dallas next faces Baltimore on Sept. 27 at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, with kickoff set for 3:25 p.m. Central.
