Four people are running for two seats on the Princeton ISD Board of Trustees in the Nov. 3 election, and the two who draw the most votes will take the at-large places.

The incumbents, Cyndi Darland and Starla Sharpe, have filed for re-election, the district said in its weekly Express News newsletter. They face William "Ricky" Gillespie, a former trustee, and Charlotte Wilson. Both open places carry three-year terms.

The district's election page lists the same four 2026 candidates. Wilson also appears on that page among the candidates who filed for the board in 2025.

How the race works

Princeton ISD trustees are elected at large, so every voter in the district can vote in the contest, and the top two finishers win. Early voting runs Oct. 19 through Oct. 30, and Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The district points voters to Collin County's elections website for sample ballots, along with the county's voter registration search and ballot address search tools, which show a voter's own ballot.

The trustee race shares the ballot with federal, state and county contests and with Collin County's bond propositions.

A growing district

The winners will join a board overseeing a district that recently marked its 12,000th student and has reported enrollment growth of more than 1,400 students, according to announcements on the district's website. Princeton ISD also dedicated its fourth middle school this fall.

Where the board meets

Regular board meetings are typically held on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the board room of the administration building, 804 Mabel Ave., and are open to the public and livestreamed, according to the newsletter. The next regular meeting is Monday, Oct. 19, the first day of early voting.

The remaining meetings on the district's 2026-27 schedule fall on Nov. 16, Dec. 16, Jan. 25, Feb. 22, April 19, May 17, June 21 and July 19, with a March date still to be set.

Candidates' application forms are posted on the board election page of the district website.
