Klassen Secures First Win
George Klassen recorded his first career major league win, pitching six innings of effective baseball for the Los Angeles Angels. The right-hander allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out five batters and issuing one walk. He was supported by a bullpen that kept the Texas Rangers off the scoreboard for the final three innings.
Blake Weiman provided a scoreless 1.1-inning save situation, allowing two hits and striking out one. Ryan Watson pitched 0.2 innings without allowing a hit or run, adding another strikeout. Ben Joyce closed the game with a perfect inning, retiring the side in order with a strikeout to secure the save.
Scoring Highlights
The Angels took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when Matt Carpenter scored on a walk by Andrew Benintendi. Texas tied the game in the third inning when Corey Seager hit a 378-foot home run to right field. The Rangers immediately reclaimed the lead when Mike Trout singled to center, bringing in Zach Guzman.
The game remained tied 2-2 until the sixth inning, which proved decisive. Steven Siri doubled to left field to score Jake Grissom, putting Texas ahead 3-2. Guzman then hit a sacrifice bunt to move Siri to third, and Trout’s second single of the game scored Siri, tying the game at 3-3.
Frazier later reached on an infield single to score Neto, giving the Angels a 4-3 advantage. In the seventh inning, Neto scored on a fielder’s choice play involving Ballesteros to extend the lead to 5-2.
