Pederson Dominates with Two Long Balls
Joc Pederson provided the offensive spark for the Texas Rangers, hitting two home runs to lead their 7-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field on Monday. The win improved the Rangers' record to 54-52, while the Mariners fell to 52-55.
Pederson’s first blast came in the top of the first inning. He launched a 418-foot home run to center field, giving Seattle an early 1-0 lead. However, the momentum shifted quickly as Pederson turned the tables on himself later in the second inning.
After Randy Arozarena homered to center (395 feet) to tie the game at 1-1, Pederson crushed a 347-foot shot to right field in the bottom of the frame. That swing drove in Lopez and Díaz, putting Texas ahead 4-1.
Rangers Extend Lead in Third Inning
The Rangers continued their offensive surge in the third inning, racking up four runs against Seattle starting pitcher George Kirby. Kirby (8-9) allowed seven hits and seven earned runs over four innings while striking out three batters.
Texas added to its advantage when Evan Carter scored on a sacrifice fly by Corey Seager, making it 5-2 after the Mariners rallied for a run in the same inning via a sacrifice fly by Josh Smith that scored Wyatt Langford. Duran then extended the lead with a 436-foot home run to left-center field.
Burger followed with a two-run shot of his own, a 403-foot homer to left-center that capped the three-run frame and made it 7-2.
