Burger Powers Rangers Past Mariners
Jake Burger delivered the decisive blow on Saturday, launching a two-run home run and adding another RBI on a single to help the Texas Rangers secure a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners at Globe Life Field. The win improved the Rangers’ record to 52-51, while Seattle fell to 51-53.
The Mariners struck first in the top of the first inning when Langford homered to left field, a 384-foot shot that gave Seattle an early 1-0 lead. Texas responded in the bottom of the second inning as We. Wilson singled to right, allowing Naylor to score and putting Young in scoring position.
Although Young did not score on the play, the Rangers tied the game at 1-1.
Rangers Take Control in Fourth
The momentum shifted in the fourth inning when Burger launched a 362-foot home run to right field. The blast cleared the bases, driving in Duran and giving Texas a 3-1 advantage. Seattle answered in the fifth inning with a two-run rally. Canzone doubled to center field, bringing both Arozarena and Emerson home to tie the game at 3-3.
The Rangers regained the lead in the sixth inning. Burger singled to center, allowing Nimmo to score and putting himself in scoring position. Lopez followed with a sacrifice bunt that allowed Carter to score, extending Texas’ lead to 5-3.
The Mariners managed to cut the deficit in the ninth inning when Emerson scored on a wild pitch by pitcher Jacob Latz, making the score 5-4. However, Latz recorded the save to preserve the victory.
