Osuna delivers decisive blow

Josh Smith and the Texas Rangers secured an 8-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels at Globe Life Field on Wednesday. The game remained tightly contested until the eighth inning, when Osuna launched a three-run home run to right field, breaking the tie and providing the margin needed for the win.

Early exchanges and pitching performances

The Rangers took an early lead in the first inning. Soler doubled to left field, driving in Schanuel to make it 1-0. Lowe followed with a single to center, scoring Soler to extend the advantage to 2-0.

Los Angeles responded in the second inning. Lopez singled to left, allowing Carter and Osuna to score, tying the game at 2-2. Lopez advanced to second base on the play.

Pitching played a crucial role in keeping the score low for the first seven innings. For the Angels, Jose Soriano pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits while striking out four batters. Tayler Saucedo pitched one inning, giving up one earned run and striking out two before taking the loss. Sam Bachman struggled in his 0.2 innings, surrendering five earned runs on six hits. Brent Suter closed out the Angels' relief efforts with a third of an inning, striking out one batter.

For the Rangers, Jacob deGrom started on the mound, throwing five innings. He allowed two earned runs on five hits and seven strikeouts. Cole Winn pitched a perfect inning with no hits or walks. Chris Martin pitched one inning, allowing one earned run. Peyton Gray earned the win with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts. Tyler Alexander closed the game with a scoreless inning, striking out two batters.

Late-inning surge

The game remained tied or close until the seventh inning. Meckler singled to left, scoring Peraza to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead. Foscue then homered to left field, 387 feet, tying the game at 3-3.

The decisive action came in the eighth inning. Duran singled to left, scoring Smith and advancing Burger to third. Foscue singled to left, scoring Burger and moving Duran to second. With the bases loaded, Osuna homered to right field, 364 feet, driving in Duran and Foscue to make it 8-3.

Final standings

The Rangers improved their record to 46-45. The Angels fell to 36-56. Attendance was 23,816.
