Bachmeier Drives Unbeaten BYU to Victory

Bear Bachmeier provided the decisive offensive spark as the unbeaten BYU Cougars defeated the TCU Horned Frogs 17-10 on Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium. The visiting team from Utah extended its perfect season to 4-0, while the home team dropped to 2-3.

The game featured strong special teams contributions and efficient offensive execution from both sides, but it was Bachmeier’s rushing prowess that ultimately separated the teams in a low-scoring affair. With a final attendance of 38,327, the contest showcased the resilience of the Cougars, who outscored the Horned Frogs 10-3 in the second half to secure the win.

Second-Half Momentum Shifts

The first quarter ended in a scoreless tie, setting the stage for a methodical second half. In the second period, BYU struck first when Bear Bachmeier ran for a nine-yard touchdown, with Matthias Dunn’s kick making it 7-0. TCU responded quickly through the air, as Jaden Craig connected with Kari Ashley on a 13-yard passing play.

Nate McCashland’s kick tied the game at 7-7, sending the teams to the locker room level. The third quarter belonged to BYU’s special teams, as Matthias Dunn drilled a 49-yard field goal to give the Cougars a 10-7 lead heading into the final frame. The fourth quarter saw Bachmeier strike again with a 21-yard rushing touchdown, extending BYU’s lead to 17-7.

TCU managed a late 44-yard field goal by Nate McCashland to narrow the gap, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
