The Dallas Cowboys have finalized their roster to comply with the NFL's 53-player requirement, leading to several important cuts. Among the players waived were Jaydon Blue, a second-year running back, and Sam Williams, a former second-round draft choice. In an unexpected decision, quarterback Joe Milton III was also released despite a strong preseason performance.
To bolster their lineup, the Cowboys added running back Emari Demercado from waivers and signed offensive tackle Wanya Morris. Many of the players released have been retained by the team on their practice squad, which features a combination of both rookies and veterans. The practice squad now includes players such as Israel Abanikanda (RB), Jordan Hudson (WR), and Tommy Dunn (DT), among others.
Several players showcased their skills during the preseason, including wide receiver Jordan Hudson and defensive tackle Tommy Dunn, who was noted for his run defense. Linebacker Justin Barron, a converted safety, performed well in coverage, while Reddy Steward demonstrated reliability in the defensive backfield.
Some players who were cut have already found new teams. Julius Wood was picked up by the Miami Dolphins, and guard Trevor Keegan has joined the Minnesota Vikings. Sam Williams, who recorded 8.5 sacks over his first two seasons, has signed with the Cleveland Browns after facing challenges in his recovery from ACL surgery.
Jaydon Blue, along with defensive backs Zion Childress and Trikweze Bridges, has also signed with other NFL practice squads, marking a new chapter in their careers.
