Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed will keep the starting job, coach Mike Elko said after the No. 23 Aggies fell 35-6 to No. 10 LSU. Elko gave a one-word response, “No,” when asked about benching Reed. Yahoo Sports reported the exchange, which was posted by the TexAgs account on X.
Reed completed 10 of 26 attempts for 106 yards against LSU and had one interception. His 38.4% completion mark may have been the lowest of his college career, according to the report.
Through four games, Reed has 738 passing yards, six touchdowns and four interceptions. He has completed 55.4% of his throws, a career-low rate, while also recording 104 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. In the previous season, he threw for 3,169 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Texas A&M is set to face Arkansas in Week 5 on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. EST. Arkansas also enters the matchup with a 2-2 record.
