The Houston Texans will be missing wide receiver Jayden Higgins for the entirety of the 2026 season after he suffered a torn ACL during a joint practice with the Las Vegas Raiders. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Higgins, a second-year player, will not participate in the upcoming season.
Drafted as the No. 34 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Higgins had a successful rookie year, making 41 receptions for 525 yards and scoring six touchdowns. He became a crucial target for quarterback C.J. Stroud, especially after teammate Tank Dell was injured late in the 2024 season.
In 2025, Higgins caught 41 passes from 68 targets, showing an increase in his role during Houston's nine-game winning streak to end the regular season. He scored four of his six touchdowns in the final nine weeks, achieving his best yardage totals in Weeks 13 and 17.
With Higgins unavailable, the Texans will rely on players like Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel, and Justin Watson to fill the void. The team is also optimistic about Tank Dell's potential return from his own injury later in the season. Further information on Higgins' recovery timeline has not yet been disclosed.
