The Houston Texans have received encouraging news regarding offensive tackle Braden Smith, who is anticipated to be out for several weeks because of a foot injury related to plantar fasciitis. This information comes after an injury scare that occurred during a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers, as reported by KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson on August 27.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, although Smith's injury raises concerns, it is not deemed serious and should not lead to a lengthy absence. Sleeper's Jacob Barzilla mentioned that the Texans will likely require Smith's presence at some point this season.

Smith, who was signed to a two-year, $20 million contract, was expected to assume the starting right tackle role, but his injury adds to the uncertainty regarding the offensive line.

ESPN's Adam Schefter noted that Smith may be out for several weeks, which is a better scenario than facing a more severe injury. The Texans may not feel pressured to rush Smith back into play, as Trent Brown, a former Pro Bowl player, is currently filling the right tackle position, and the team is pleased with the development of Blake Fisher during the preseason.

Further updates on Smith's recovery and the offensive line situation are expected as the season draws nearer.
