Houston worked out linebacker Kenneth Murray on Tuesday but did not reach a contract agreement with him. The visit came after Henry To’oTo’o sustained a shoulder injury and was placed on injured reserve, where he is expected to remain for several months. The Texans also promoted linebacker Jamal Hill from their practice squad to the active roster.
Murray, 27, was the 23rd overall pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020 after receiving All-American recognition at Oklahoma. He moved to the Tennessee Titans in 2024 and paced that team in tackles. Dallas later obtained him from Tennessee for two draft picks.
Murray opened every game for the Cowboys last season. His totals included 81 tackles, two pass breakups, four tackles for loss, one sack and one fumble recovery, leaving him second on Dallas in tackles. Since the offseason started, he has visited with the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants as well.
Houston might consider him for a practice-squad role and game-day elevations, but no deal was reported. The Texans are set to host the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday at Reliant Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for noon on CBS.
