The Houston Texans have announced the signing of defensive tackle Junior Tafuna to their practice squad on September 2, 2026. Tafuna's return follows a brief stint with the New York Jets after being waived by the Texans on August 5. He was claimed by the Jets but was released during their roster cuts.
Tafuna, who previously played for the Texans in his rookie season after going undrafted in 2025, is expected to bolster the team's depth as they pursue a Super Bowl. During his college career at Utah, he recorded impressive statistics, including 108 combined tackles and 7.5 sacks over four seasons.
While some analysts have noted that he may not possess all the ideal traits for interior defenders, his athleticism and grit at the point of attack could be valuable assets for the Texans.
Further updates on Tafuna's contributions and performance with the team are anticipated as the season unfolds.
