The Houston Texans are grappling with uncertainty surrounding wide receiver Tank Dell as the season opener approaches. Reports indicate that Dell is not expected to be ready for the first game. He began practicing during the second week of training camp but has only engaged in individual drills and limited team activities.

Recently, he has not been seen practicing in front of the media, which raises additional concerns about his status.

While two league sources have confirmed that Dell has not suffered a setback, he is still unable to practice consistently. It seems improbable that he will participate in the Texans' last preseason game. With just three weeks until the season opener on September 13, his availability is in question.

This situation may prompt the Texans to include seven wide receivers on their 53-man roster as they await Dell's return.

In addition to Dell's uncertain status, the team is also dealing with the impact of Jayden Higgins' ACL injury, which has complicated the search for a second wide receiver to play alongside Nico Collins. Players like Xavier Hutchinson, who showed promise last season, and Jaylin Noel, recognized for his playmaking skills, are now vying for that position.

While there is optimism for Dell's recovery, it remains unclear when he will be able to return to full form on the field.
