The Dallas Cowboys have signed Von Miller to a one-year contract worth $5.5 million, which could rise to $7.5 million based on performance incentives. Miller, a DeSoto native and former Texas A&M player, expressed his enthusiasm for joining his hometown team.

At 37 years old, Miller had a productive previous season, tallying nine sacks in 2025. His impressive career includes two Super Bowl victories, seven All-Pro selections, and eight Pro Bowl appearances, making him a valuable asset for the Cowboys.

While some analysts believe that Miller's signing may not significantly enhance the pass rush, it is expected to strengthen the team's outside linebacker depth. The Cowboys are projected to have six outside linebackers on their 53-man roster, with two more on the practice squad.

The anticipated starters are Rashan Gary and Donovan Ezeiruaku, while Miller and Malachi Lawrence are expected to serve as primary backups. Additionally, James Houston is likely to earn a roster position as the fifth outside linebacker due to his performance last season, especially on special teams.

The competition for the final OLB position includes Sam Williams and Marist Liufau, with Liufau potentially having an advantage due to his versatility and special teams contributions.

The Cowboys' projected final OLB depth chart consists of Rashan Gary, Donovan Ezeiruaku, Malachi Lawrence, Von Miller, James Houston, and Marist Liufau. More information regarding roster decisions is still pending.
