Texans Make Significant Roster Adjustments Before Season Opener

The Houston Texans have waived 22 players as they finalize their roster for Week 1.

The Houston Texans have made major roster adjustments in preparation for their Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills on September 13. A total of 22 players have been waived, including prominent figures like wide receiver Zay Jones and quarterback Brett Rypien.

Among those released are defensive tackle Dominic Bailey from Tennessee and wide receiver Lewis Bond from Boston College. Additionally, linebacker Caleb Johnson and tight end Brevin Jordan, both with considerable league experience, were also waived. The team has released cornerback Bryce Hall and safety George Odum as part of these changes.

In a trade move, the Texans have sent center/guard Jarrett Patterson to the San Francisco 49ers and acquired tackle Nathan Thomas from the Dallas Cowboys. Several players, including wide receiver Tank Dell and safety Ja'Marcus Ingram, have been placed on the Reserve/Injured list but are designated for return. Defensive end Ali Gaye is also on the Reserve/Injured list, while linebacker E.J.

Speed has been moved to the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

These changes come as the Texans prepare for their season opener at Reliant Stadium against the Buffalo Bills. Further updates on the Texans' roster and any additional moves remain unclear.
