Texas defensive lineman Hero Kanu was selected as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced Sept. 23.
The award honors a scholarship athlete based on academic performance, on-field play and leadership. The source did not provide further details about Kanu’s selection.
Texas has placed a player among the award’s finalists in each of the last two seasons. Linebacker Trey Moore was a finalist in 2025, after center Jake Majors reached that stage in 2024.
The Longhorns have had two Campbell Trophy winners. Center Dallas Griffin received the award in 2007, and defensive end Sam Acho won it in 2010.
