North Texas has confirmed that Tayven Jackson will be the starting quarterback for their upcoming game against Indiana University. This match, taking place on September 5 at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana, marks the beginning of the regular season for the No. 6 ranked Hoosiers.

Jackson, who has a history with Indiana University, played for the Hoosiers for two seasons from 2023 to 2024. A Greenwood, Indiana native, he excelled at Center Grove High School before continuing his college career at various institutions.

In 2022, he was part of the Tennessee football program, and after two years at IU, he transferred to the University of Central Florida (UCF) for the 2025 season. At UCF, Jackson recorded a career-high of 2,151 passing yards, along with 10 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.

Additionally, Jackson's ties to IU include his brother, Trayce Jackson-Davis, a former basketball player for the Hoosiers, who has expressed his intention to attend the game to support him. This game also marks IU's first since they celebrated their national championship win in January.
