Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is unlikely to face Louisiana Tech as he recovers from an ankle injury, but his status could change before the Bears play Colorado on Sept. 26. The Colorado-Baylor game is set for 10 a.m. MT, and it could feature Lagway against Colorado quarterback Julian Lewis if Lagway is cleared.
Lagway hurt the ankle during Baylor’s 17-16 season-opening loss to Auburn. He recorded 333 passing yards, two touchdown throws and one interception in that game, with a wrap later visible around the ankle. Baylor held him out of its following game, a 44-3 win over Prairie View A&M.
Nate Bennett replaced Lagway against Prairie View and completed 24 of 36 passes for 314 yards. He produced three passing touchdowns and added a rushing score, and he could make another start against Louisiana Tech. Coach Dave Aranda said Lagway looked good at a Sunday practice, with the quarterback expected to participate in the week’s work.
