Houston could alter its offensive line before facing the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Texans are 0-2 after losing 20-6 at home to the Cincinnati Bengals, and coach DeMeco Ryans discussed the unit Wednesday at the Houston Methodist Training Center.
C.J. Stroud was pressured on 45.5% of his dropbacks against Cincinnati’s man coverage, while Houston ran for 18 yards on 12 attempts. Right tackle Trent Brown received much of the attention for his pass-protection struggles.
Blake Fisher, a 2024 second-round Notre Dame selection, is under consideration after displaying mobility and strength in training camp. Wyatt Teller also could take on a full-time guard role beside rookie center Keylan Rutledge. Houston has not identified which players will start against Indianapolis.
The Colts will be without Alec Pierce, who went on injured reserve because of a heel injury, Indianapolis coach Shane Steichen said. Indianapolis added veteran receiver Darius Slayton and placed Eli Pancol on its practice squad. Josh Downs, Keenan Allen and rookie tight end Tyler Warren are among the other receiving options, with Taylor described as an underneath threat.
Houston is awaiting the official designation for Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins, who is dealing with a hamstring issue. Houston previously won the AFC South after 0-2 starts in 2018 and 2023. No AFC South team plays a division game in Week 3, leaving Sunday’s winner with a 1-0 division tiebreaker record and the loser at 0-3.
