The Houston Texans are looking to bolster their pass rush as they face injury challenges. According to a report from KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson, the team is evaluating defensive end Devean Deal, an undrafted free agent from TCU who has previously been with the Seattle Seahawks.
During his time in college, Deal recorded a total of 176 tackles and 13 sacks across two years at TCU and three seasons at Tulane. Although the Texans have recently added linebacker Caleb Johnson, they are actively seeking more ways to strengthen their lineup due to the absence of players like Jadeveon Clowney and Logan Hall, whose injury details have not been disclosed.
Deal was let go by the Seahawks to accommodate new signings, including undrafted rookie receivers Rashad Rochelle and Trayvon Rudolph. The Texans have also signed veteran receivers Sterling Shepard and Zay Jones and placed linebacker K.C. Ossai on injured reserve.
As the team prepares for the upcoming season, they aim to resolve their injury concerns and enhance their defensive options before their first game against the Buffalo Bills. The status of Deal remains uncertain, as he has not yet been signed by the Texans.
