The Dallas Cowboys have added running back Tyler Goodson from the Atlanta Falcons and released Israel Abanikanda, creating a roster spot for Goodson. The move followed Dallas’ 69-yard rushing effort against the New York Giants in Week 1.

Abanikanda appeared in six NFL games, all for the New York Jets in the 2023 season. Before turning professional, the former Pitt player carried 239 times for 1,431 yards and 20 touchdowns during the 2022 college season. He did not secure a regular role in the NFL before being released by Dallas.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said New York’s defensive front disrupted the rushing attack early, with penetration and a physical advantage at the line of scrimmage. He also said Javonte Williams struggled to find openings at the beginning of the game. Schottenheimer said the Cowboys adjusted following halftime. Sports Yahoo published the report.
