In an effort to strengthen their lineup, the Cowboys have acquired running back Emari Demercado, who was claimed off waivers from Kansas City. Schottenheimer pointed out Demercado's versatility, especially his contributions on special teams, as a significant reason for this acquisition. Additionally, offensive coordinator Klayton Adams's familiarity with Demercado from their time in Arizona influenced the move.
While discussing the possibility of bringing Blue or Mafah back to the practice squad, Schottenheimer remained non-committal, indicating that their return is uncertain. The Cowboys have currently filled 13 spots on their practice squad, which has a maximum capacity of 16 players. They also have an additional spot available due to the International Player Pathway program, which includes defensive tackle Dayo Odeleye.
Schottenheimer expressed confidence in the current running back group, reinforcing the team's commitment to building a competitive roster.
