The Houston Texans will be without wide receiver Nico Collins when they face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Collins has a Grade 1 hamstring strain sustained during practice last week and missed practice during the week before being ruled out. He also missed Houston’s loss to Cincinnati, making this his second consecutive game out. sports.yahoo.com reported the decision, citing NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Both teams enter the matchup at 0-2. Houston scored six points in a 20-6 defeat to the Bengals, while Indianapolis has given up 354 rushing yards and 5.4 yards per carry through two games. The game will be the teams’ opportunity to seek their first victory of the season.
Tight end Dalton Schultz could have a larger role. He made 12 catches on 14 targets for 140 yards against Cincinnati, with eight receptions in the fourth quarter, and has a team-leading 16 catches for 175 yards through two games.
Houston could use additional tight ends or rely more on its running game. David Montgomery and Woody Marks had limited results against Cincinnati, as the Texans’ running backs averaged 1.5 yards per carry. The available receivers are Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel and Jared Wayne. No further details about Collins’ recovery timeline were provided.
