Baylor has lost a second starter for the season, with defensive lineman Devonte Tezino joining safety Jacob Redding on the list of players sidelined by season-ending injuries. The team has depth along the defensive line, according to the report.
Tezino was hurt during Baylor’s second offensive play from scrimmage Saturday against Prairie View A&M after a Prairie View A&M offensive lineman made a cut block. Tezino called for medical personnel and was later taken from the field by cart. Head coach Dave Aranda confirmed after the game that Tezino would miss the rest of the season.
The fifth-year senior from Killeen began the season with two sacks and a tipped pass that led to an interception against Auburn. Aranda said Tezino had been playing the best football of his career before the injury.
Tezino appeared in all 12 games last season, starting seven, despite dealing with injuries. He recorded 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup that year. In 29 games at Baylor, he has 56 tackles. SicEm365 reported the injury and Aranda’s comments.
