TCU's quarterback plan is unsettled after a 21-13 defeat at Central Florida. The Horned Frogs are now 2-2 overall and have gone 0-2 against Power Four teams. The loss was the Big 12 opener for both programs and came after TCU committed 11 penalties totaling 86 yards, produced two fewer turnovers than UCF and gained 1.2 yards per rushing attempt.
Jaden Craig, a Harvard transfer, still sits above sophomore Adam Schobel on the depth chart. Craig has played against North Carolina and UCF, completing 45 of 72 throws for 485 yards. He has two interceptions and no touchdown passes in those games, along with 10 rushing attempts for minus-38 yards, with sacks included in college rushing figures.
Schobel had no freshman playing time in 2025 and has made one pass this season. The source said Craig has received limited help from his receivers but has struggled when the pocket collapses.
TCU entered the year seeking a 4-0 start and an ESPN “College GameDay” visit to Fort Worth for the BYU matchup. Instead, it is scoring 11.5 points per game through its first month. Craig signed with TCU for greater compensation than Schobel, making a change a financial and personnel matter.
Craig could remain the starter against BYU, while Schobel could make his first start at Baylor on Oct. 17 after the bye week. Coach Sonny Dykes previously replaced injured starters Chandler Morris with Max Duggan in 2022 and Morris with Josh Hoover in 2023. Further details were not provided.
