Abby Vander Wal, an outside hitter for the Texas Longhorns, left the volleyball match against TCU after suffering a knee injury. The injury occurred during the first set when she fell while scrambling for the ball and remained on the court, visibly in pain and clutching her knee.
Training staff assisted Vander Wal off the court as she was unable to bear weight on her leg. She did not return for the rest of the set, which the Longhorns won by sweeping TCU. Prior to her exit, she had made two kills and her topspin serve contributed to two scoring runs for Texas.
Details about the extent of Vander Wal's injury are not yet available, and the situation is still developing.
