Tayven Jackson has been selected as the starting quarterback for the North Texas Mean Green ahead of their season opener against Indiana University on September 5, 2026. Jackson, who has a diverse background in college football, previously played for the Hoosiers.
In his college career, Jackson had limited opportunities at Tennessee in 2022 and participated in 13 games with Indiana during the 2023-24 season, where he recorded a 61.2% completion rate, throwing six touchdowns and six interceptions.
He later transferred to the University of Central Florida in 2025, completing 63.5% of his passes for 2,151 yards, with ten touchdowns and eight interceptions, contributing to UCF's 5-7 season.
Before entering college football, Jackson was a prominent player at Center Grove High School, where he amassed 4,813 passing yards and 47 touchdowns from 2018 to 2021, guiding his team to a perfect record and a Class 6A championship.
Tayven Jackson is also the brother of Trayce Jackson-Davis, a notable Indiana Mr. Basketball in 2019, who is currently in his fourth season with the Toronto Raptors. The matchup between North Texas and Indiana is set to begin at noon and will be available on Fox.
