The Dallas Cowboys are changing who communicates their defensive signals for their Week 2 meeting with the Washington Commanders. Rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham will wear the green dot and call the defense, according to sportingnews.com.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed the assignment, which was made by defensive coordinator Christian Parker. Barham, a third-round selection from Michigan, is taking on the responsibility as Dallas prepares for Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels.
The change follows Dallas’ 28-point loss to the New York Giants in Week 1, when the Cowboys had difficulty containing the Giants’ offense. Washington also lost to a division opponent in its opening game. The Cowboys’ offense facing Washington’s defense, along with Barham’s handling of the communication duties, are among the developments ahead of the NFC East matchup.
