The San Antonio Spurs beat the visiting Phoenix Suns 123-103 on Wednesday at Frost Bank Center, a preseason game the Spurs controlled after the first quarter.

Wembanyama leads San Antonio

Victor Wembanyama scored 19 points in 23 minutes, making 9 of 14 shots, and blocked four shots. Stephon Castle had 18 points, Carter Bryant 16 and Ja'Kobi Gillespie 13. Tarris Reed Jr. collected nine rebounds.

Suns struggle from deep

Phoenix made 7 of its 31 3-point attempts. Jamaree Bouyea had 15 points, eight assists and four rebounds, and Ryan Dunn added 15.

Quarter by quarter

Phoenix led 23-22 after one. San Antonio outscored the Suns 38-26 in the second to lead 60-49 at halftime, then won the third 32-26 and the fourth 31-28.

Both teams are 1-3 in the preseason. Attendance was 18,354.
