Princeton City Council approves retirement rate change, tables development agreements

The Princeton City Council convened for a Work Session and Regular Meeting on Monday, August 24, 2026. During the session, council members reviewed the City’s 2026 Water and Wastewater Master Plan Update. The presentation covered projected water demands, wastewater flows, existing system capacity, and identified infrastructure needs.

The plan is intended to guide infrastructure planning as Princeton grows while supporting the long-term reliability of the city’s water and wastewater systems.

In the Regular Agenda, the council approved an ordinance authorizing the removal of the Texas Municipal Retirement System Statutory Maximum Contribution Rate Limit, commonly referred to as the “Stat Max.” This change is effective September 1, 2026. Additionally, the council voted not to enter into another year-long Facility Usage Agreement with the Arcadia Farms HOA.

Two items regarding non-standard service agreements with D.R. Horton – Texas, Ltd. were addressed. Item G4, concerning the Silvertrails Development, was pulled from the Consent Agenda to the Regular Agenda.

Item G5, regarding the Acorn South Development Phase 2, was tabled until the September 8, 2026 meeting. A public hearing for the Princeton-180 Public Improvement District was also tabled until the September 28, 2026 Council Meeting.

The council recognized Princeton Police officers receiving Certificates of Merit, presented by Police Chief James Waters. Library Director Glenda Puckett presented recognition to winners of the City’s Summer Reading Program and the donors who provided prizes.

Upcoming meetings include a Special City Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., and a Regular City Council Meeting on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
