The Texas Department of Transportation outlined a $230 million infrastructure plan on Tuesday, August 25, aimed at expanding roadways across Lake Lavon. The agency held an open house at Southfork Ranch in Parker to present the proposal and answer questions from the public.
The project involves replacing the current two-lane bridge with a wider structure. It would also expand nearly five miles of roadway between Lucas and the Princeton area. Specifically, the scope covers approximately 4.71 miles, starting at FM 1378 in Lucas. The route follows FM 3286, known as East Lucas Road, across the lake before continuing on FM 546 to FM 982 near Princeton.
Despite the detailed proposal, officials noted that construction is still years away. No specific funding has been identified to build the project at this time. The agency described the initiative as a long-term expansion rather than an immediate construction effort.
The public hearing provided a venue for residents to learn about the potential changes to local transportation infrastructure. TxDOT staff addressed inquiries regarding the scope and timeline of the widening efforts during the event.
