The University of North Texas men's basketball team is preparing to take part in the Snake River Invitational, a four-team tournament happening at the Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls from November 27 to 29. Denison is about 40 miles north of Princeton.
Head coach Daniyal Robinson expressed excitement about the tournament, stating it aligns with the team's scheduling goals. Their opponents—Boise State, North Dakota State, and Drake—have all had recent NCAA Tournament experience, presenting a formidable challenge. Robinson noted that competing in an unfamiliar setting will create a postseason-like atmosphere, which is advantageous for the team.
The tournament will begin with North Texas facing North Dakota State on November 27, marking their first-ever matchup. The Mean Green will then play Boise State on November 28, continuing a rivalry that spans 11 meetings. Finally, on November 29, they will compete against Drake, marking the 37th all-time contest between the two programs. Game times will be announced later.
The tournament schedule includes: - November 27: North Dakota State vs. UNT, Boise State vs. Drake - November 28: Drake vs. North Dakota State, Boise State vs. UNT - November 29: UNT vs. Drake, Boise State vs. North Dakota State
