Princeton ISD has registered plans with the state for a new high school called Anthony High School, and the filing puts a price tag of $186 million on it.
The district registered the project Sept. 16 in a database kept by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which logs building projects for its accessibility program. According to the filing, the campus would be new construction of 445,000 square feet: a three-story high school with parking and an athletic field.
It lists a start date of March 1, 2027, and a completion date of July 1, 2029, and notes that public money and public land are involved.
The filing does not give a street address. It places the school on a tract in the W.D. Thompson Survey in Princeton and lists the district as owner, with Superintendent Donald McIntyre as its contact. The architect is Claycomb Associates, Architects, of Dallas. As of Saturday, the state's database listed the project as registered.
The district's website currently lists two high schools, Princeton Senior High and Lovelady High. Neither the district's Sept. 21 board recap nor its two most recent weekly newsletters to families mention Anthony High School, and the filing does not say who the campus is named for or what grades or attendance zone it would serve.
A district still building
Claycomb has designed other recent Princeton ISD campuses. At the Sept. 21 board meeting, the firm reported that the two schools that opened this fall came in a combined $5.9 million under budget, with Carrell Elementary finishing $2.1 million below its budget and Banschbach Middle School $3.8 million below, according to the district's board recap.
