The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Houston Texans 34-30 on Sunday, October 4, at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. In a back-and-forth affair that saw the home team hold a lead for most of the contest, the visitors mounted a decisive fourth-quarter rally. CeeDee Lamb’s 12-yard touchdown reception from Dak Prescott with the score tied was the final scoring play, sealing the victory for Dallas.

The win improved the Cowboys to 2-2 on the season, while the Texans fell to 0-4.

Early Field Goal Exchange

Brandon Aubrey responded with a 39-yard field goal to trim the deficit, but Ka'imi Fairbairn extended Houston’s advantage with a 51-yard kick to close the first quarter at 10-3. The second quarter continued the pattern of field goal exchanges. Aubrey kicked a 50-yarder to make it 10-6, followed by Fairbairn connecting from 39 and 54 yards out.

The halftime score was 16-6 in favor of the home team, with the Texans leading by ten points.

Third Quarter Momentum Shift

Dallas began the second half with urgency. Javonte Williams rushed for 8 yards for a touchdown, reducing the gap to 16-13. However, Stroud and Collins struck back with a 22-yard touchdown pass, pushing Houston to a 23-13 lead.

Williams answered immediately with a 1-yard run for a touchdown, bringing the Cowboys within three points. The third quarter ended with the Texans up 23-20, setting the stage for a fourth-quarter battle.

Closing the Game

The final period was defined by Williams’ dominance. He rushed for a 2-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 23-27. Houston responded through Woody Marks, who ran for a 6-yard touchdown to restore a 30-27 advantage.

With the game on the line, Prescott found Lamb for the winning 12-yard score. Prescott finished the game with 335 passing yards on 32-of-45 completion. Williams had a historic performance with 62 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

For Houston, Stroud threw for 347 yards and two touchdowns, while Collins caught seven passes for 118 yards and two scores.
