The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 5-4 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Daikin Park, with Clement’s two-run homer in the 10th inning giving Toronto its final lead. Clement homered to left, a 391-foot shot that scored Urías and moved the Blue Jays in front 5-3.

Houston answered in the bottom of the 10th when Alvarez singled to right and Peña scored. Alvarez was out stretching at second, and Houston’s challenge of the call was upheld. The one-run final came before 27,751 in Houston.

Houston builds the early lead

Houston took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Altuve homered to left, a 401-foot drive. The Astros added two more runs in the same inning. Walker doubled to left to score Varsho, and Wade Jr. singled to center to bring in Walker, making it 3-0.

Those were Houston’s only runs until the 10th. Toronto did not score in the first five innings before putting together its tying rally in the sixth.

Toronto pulls even in the sixth

The Blue Jays got on the board when Okamoto singled to center and Straw scored, cutting Houston’s lead to 3-1. Sánchez followed with a 398-foot homer to right, scoring Okamoto and tying the game 3-3.

Hunter Brown worked 6.0 innings for Houston, allowing three hits, three earned runs and two walks while striking out eight. Jameson Taillon threw 4.0 innings for Toronto, allowing six hits, three earned runs and two walks with four strikeouts.

Bullpens and records

Spencer Miles pitched 2.0 innings for Toronto, giving up two hits with no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts. Mason Fluharty followed with 1.0 inning, no hits, no earned runs, no walks and two strikeouts. Tyler Rogers allowed one hit with no earned runs or walks in 1.0 inning.

Louis Varland earned the win, moving to 4-4, after 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout. Chase Lee recorded his first save, allowing one hit with no earned runs and no walks in 1.0 inning.

For Houston, Steven Okert, Bryan Abreu and Josh Hader each pitched 1.0 inning with no hits, no earned runs and no walks. Bennett Sousa took the loss, falling to 0-1, after allowing two hits and one earned run in 1.0 inning. Houston is 59-57, and Toronto is 54-61.
